“The Swami” at Life Alive

Swami (noun)– a Hindu priest or religious teacher, ex: Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Swami Vivekananda

The Swami could also be a “sweet curry miso sauce initiating a flavorful mix of tamari almonds, raisins, shredded carrots, broccoli, kale, and sweet onions over brown rice with a sprinkle of nutritional flakes.”

My housemates and I had an apartment meeting recently. The five of us went over chores, cleaned out the storage closet and freezer, and brought up other house-related topics for discussions. Before we did all that, we ordered take-out from Life Alive, an uber hippie crunchy vegetarian place near Central Square. The Swami is one of the items on their menu along with The Green Goddess, The Healer, and The Mystic Mountain. The line is always long, so calling ahead for a pickup is a smart move.

Or, if you prefer to make it yourself at home, here’s a recipe to the Ginger Nama Shoyu dressing. You can basically put any veggies and grains in the salad; the ginger dressing goes well with anything and ties all the ingredients together.
