Phone It In vs. Foam It In


Phone it in (idiom)– to fulfill a responsibility with a minimum effort rather than the appropriate level of effort

There are words and phrases that I learn through audio. When I first hear a word mentioned in a conversation, I don’t always get to see how it is spelled out on paper. Sometimes I end up learning incorrect but similar sounding words. “Phoning it in” is such an expression. To me, “foaming it in” gives a more vivid image of someone doing a hasty job just to get it done.
